To start the ball rolling lets take a light-hearted look at the more frequent statements or comments that are made by tradesmen and what they really mean…
- Okay missus, I have to go and get some materials now…
- Meaning: I’m going to the café and to the newsagent…

- Meaning: I’m going to the café, the newsagent, the bookies and the pub…
- Oh yes, we’re very busy…
- Meaning: I just might have another job lined up…
- There are 22 of us on the firm…
- Meaning: That includes everyone I ever worked with since I was ten…
- That was never in the quote…
- Meaning: Maybe it was but in case of any doubt whatsoever it’s an extra…
- We’ll definitely be finished this week…
- Meaning: No chance until I have another job on…
- I’ve done this a thousand times…
- Meaning: Harry told me how to do it last night…
- Traffic was awful this morning…
- Meaning: I slept in again…

Okay let get a bit more specific now and take a look at different types of tradesmen. Let’s kick off with:
Painters & Decorators:
